The Department of Education, under the School of Social Sciences, Bodoland University, was established in the year 2015 temporary with two guest faculties and enrolment of 60 students. At the end of year 2017, the department was regularised with three regular faculties. The department offers two years Master of Arts in Education spreading over four semesters for total credits of Eighty-four. Department of Education has adopted Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in P.G programme from 2019. Recently, the department has offered Ph. D. Programme in education. The department focuses in promoting quality teaching and research in various educational aspects. The thrust areas of research are Higher Education, Teacher Education, Educational Psychology, Special Education, Environmental Education and Value Education. Currently, the Department of Education is location in New Arts Building (Ground Floor), Bodoland University.

AIM

The aim of the Department of Education is to prepare the learner with knowledge, skills and capable personnel to contribute to a better society. The department also seeks to acquaint the students with the emerging trends of educational system and knowledge of the various educational plans and policies that are being practiced. Apart from orienting the students with contemporary education systems and policies it also embraces the principles of personality and character formation and righteous living in their day today life.

VISION

The vision of the department is to develop the student’s potential to the full and to prepare them for the challenges of life.

MISSION

The mission of the department is to prepare the learner with knowledge, skills and disposition to contribute to a better society.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the department seek to acquaint the students with the emerging trends in education and to impart an understanding of the various educational plans and policies of various education systems that are being practiced.
