DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

The Department of History, Bodoland University was introduced in the year 2005. Since its inception the department has been making attempts to provide a good knowledge in reconstructing history of the downtrodden communities whose histories are less known or ignored. Its attempts to produce qualitative students and scholars in history who will help the human civilization through their research works. One of the most important objectives of the department is to preserve the oral tradition of the Bodo community and other tribal people of North East India because unless it is preserved it may be swiped way.

AIM & OBJECTIVE / MISSION / VISION

History Department aims at helping students to understand the present existing social, political, religious and economic condition of the people. Without the knowledge of history we can not have the background of our religion, custom, institutions, administration and so on. The teaching of history helps the students to explain the present, to analyze it and to trace its course. Cause and effect relationship between the past and the present is lively presented in the history. History thus helps us to understand the present day problems both at the national and international level accurately and objectively.
